Gratitude and playing catch-up

Well, so much for posting a gratitude blog every day. This week I've been pretty caught up in getting ready for my recital, it's all I think about, I dreamt about it last night and it's what's been causing all these stupid headaches. So here are the things that are helping me make it through.

1. This guy (the tall one).

My confidante, my best friend, my favorite person in the world. I am not exaggerating when I say I'd be a basket case without him.

2. This little man.

(the sleeping pic is a few months old, but its the same sweet face!)
Tonight I sat in the rocking chair and sang him songs from my recital in the most lullaby-version of my voice that I could. He laid his head on my chest and fell asleep. It was magic.

3. This book.
It's been at least 10 years since I read it last. It is still changing my life and my students' lives through the way I teach. If you are a performer of any kind, READ IT.

4. Prayer. After a discouraging lesson last week with the avenging angel (my awesome voice teacher who looks like an angel but won't let anything slip by - she amazes me) and an even more discouraging rehearsal yesterday I was feeling pretty crappy about this weekend. I've been praying all day for help; help that I don't get sick, help that I can find what is lacking and fix it, help to not get discouraged. Tonight's practice was infinitely better and exactly what I needed. As always, I give it my all and Heavenly Father makes up the difference. God is awesome.

5. My good friend Kate told me that DeCordova was free to all Bank of America customers on Saturday (making up for the debit card fee, now aren't we?) and we cruised up there for a walk around. It was beautiful!

6. The weather today. 70 degrees? Seriously? It was like I high-fived a million angels and they spent the rest of the day cheering me on with sunshine. It was freaking amazing. When I stepped out this morning for a walk with the Bean, I nearly passed out from pure joy. Don't worry, my neurotic tendancies toward stressing out soon brought me back to my senses. But still. 70 degrees in November is not something to be taken lightly. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

so glad you made it to decordova. i know exactly how you feel about the recital. you are in my prayers. peace. peace. peace. since i am all wonky, that was my female version of sending you blessings. you can do this. and if you can't, God can, and probably will. ;)
