Jeff and me and the daisy makes three
Yes, we brought our potted Gerbera Daisy on our camping trip to Moab. Hey, there's nothing wrong with bringing along a bit of company from home. People bring dogs all the time. Well, that's what we told ourselves anyway. The daisy made it back in one piece, but both of us had some close calls. Off-roading for example, not a good activity for potted plants, especially when you get lost. For the record, I held the wee plant between my knees, so it wouldn't get too jostled. We did not, however bring the daisy mountain biking. Even a dedicated plant owner has to draw the line somewhere. It's a good thing too, mountain biking is new for me and it got off to a rocky start. *Just as a note to anyone looking to start this wonderful sport. Trying clipless pedals (for the unwashed masses those are pedals that attach to the bottom of a special shoe. Great for road biking long distances and for experienced mountain bikers, they are not as easy to get in and out of) was not the brightest idea I've had this year. It meant that in all my rookie mistakes I remained attached to the bike to experience the full effect of my inabilities. With my pride and my legs rather bruised, I soon decided that if mountain biking and I were going to get along at all, I would have to try a new tactic. Regular pedals and sneakers did the trick and the rest of the trip went off with out another wipe out. We returned from Moab, tired and dirty with a slightly worse for the wear daisy perched atop our cooler behind us, but I'm pretty sure that two of the three travelers want to go back.
